Rachel Rampil, LCSW (she/her)
PSYCHOTHERAPIST, EDUCATOR, COMMUNITY ORGANIZER
Rachel’s presence with clients has been described as affirming, direct, creative, and humorous. Your work together begins with establishing a holistic understanding of how you, or you and your loved ones, arrived at this moment in your life. This understanding is layered - from the influence of broad environment and systems in which everyone lives all the way down to your inner most strengths and growth areas.
From there, the work of cultivating reciprocal, healing relationships within yourself, your family, and community proceeds apace. Through new perspectives and practices within and outside of sessions, you can chart a course for your present and future that honors your needs and goals. Most people have past challenges or traumatic experiences that they carry, but they need not be forever defined or limited by them.
Rachel’s approach to psychotherapy is influenced by liberation psychology, therefore she sees most mental health and relational challenges as survival strategies for a sick society, rather than symptoms of a sick individual. Many of her clients have found purpose and healing from contributing, even in small ways, toward communal or social change.
A former public health worker, Rachel is a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (Masters Degree) and Clark University (Bachelors Degree in International Development & Social Change). She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State with tele-health licensure in Vermont. Since 2016 she has counseled children and teens, veterans, and the formerly incarcerated in school, foster care, and community agency settings. Since moving to private practice, she has worked extensively with couples, families, and those with chronic illness. She has received extensive clinical training from Imago Relationships International, the National Child Traumatic Stress Workforce Institute, and Fluence Training. She is certified in Child and Adolescent Trauma Treatment (TF-CBT), Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.
Rachel’s other passions and pursuits include community organizing, gardening, hiking, creating art and woodworking.
